Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the assessment of calcium neodecanoate, read-across to the assessment entities soluble calcium substances and neodecanoic acid is applied since the ions of calcium neodecanoate determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. The potential for acute toxicity of calcium to aquatic invertebrates is low based on EC50 values for Daphnia magna and Ceriodaphnia dubia being above the OECD 202 test limit of 100 mg/L and the fact that calcium is added to standard test media. Based on a reliable OECD 202 equivalent study, the 48-h EL50 for D. magna is > 457 mg/L (measured) neodecanoic acid. Thus, calcium neodecanoate has a low potential for acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
