Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General: General first aid: rest, warmth and fresh air. Contact corporate health service.
Inhalation: Move the exposed person to fresh air immediately.
Skin contact: Wash the skin immediately with soap and water.
Eye contact: Rinse the eye with water immediately. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Contact physician if irritation persists.
Ingestion: Flush mouth with water. Drink plenty of water in case of swallowing. Get medical attention.
Information for health personnel: No health hazard according to the conducted toxicological tests.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Water, powder, foam or CO2. Use extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding fire. Water is preferred.
Fire and explosion hazards: Danger of static unloading and ignition of flammable gas over the solvents (A/1-liquids) when adding of dry powder in processes. Use inert gas under such conditions.
Fire or strong heat may develop iodine vapor, nitrous gases (NOX) and carbon monoxide (CO).
Fire fighting procedures: No particular requirement on fire fighting procedure.
Personal protective equipment: Do not breathe poisonous and corrosive gases. Use suplied-air respirators and tight coat because the combustion gases contain iodine vapor.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: General protection: Wear full face air - purifying respirators, approved safety glasses and gloves.
Environmental precautions: Use appropriate containers to avoid environmental pollution.
Methods for cleaning: Small spill: Sweep, vacuum, or wipe up spill with damp cloth and discard as waste. Clean up with a moist cloth or paper towel. Use plenty of warm water. Wash area with soap and water.
Larger spill: Larger amount is collected in a suitable container which is then properly labelled and send for recovery or treatment according to agreement.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Avoid handling which leads to dust formation.
Storage: Store at moderate temperatures in dry, well ventilated area. Keep containers closed tightly. Protect from light, including direct sun-rays.
Special risks and properties Dry powder can promote static electric during handling.
Other Information: Hygienic work practices: Wash your hands at the end of each work shift, and before eating. Wash promptly if skin becomes contaminated with soap and warm water.
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with the ECHA REACH Guidance on Intermediates (Feb 08). Site
documentation to demonstrate safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at Manufacturing site.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Recommended monitoring procedures: Dust measurement.
Other Information about threshold limit values: Followed dust exposure Norwegian Standard Method.
Occupational exposure controls: Provide sufficient ventilation for operations causing dust formation.
Respiratory protection: Wear air purifying respirators (full face mask with particulate filter) if there is dust formation.
Hand protection: Wear approved protective gloves if risk of skin contact. Wear protective gloves made of neoprene, nitrile or polyethylene.
Eye protection: Wear approved safety glasses.
Skin protection (other than of the hands): Wear approved work clothes (Flame inhibition EN 531A, Antistatic PREN 1149-3).
Other Information: This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with the ECHA REACH Guidance on Intermediates (Feb 08). Site documentation to demonstrate safe handling arrangements in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at Manufacturing site.
Stability and reactivity
Conditions to avoid: Avoid heating above 180°C.
Materials to avoid: Reactive substances. Strong oxidation agent.
Hazardous decomposition products: Fire or high temperature may causes formation of poisonous gases: Iodine, Nitrous oxides (NOx) and Carbon monoxide (CO).
Stability: Stable under normal and anticipated storage and handling conditions.
Disposal considerations
Product classified as hazardous waste: No
Packaging classified as hazardous waste: No
Specify the appropriate methods of disposal:Collect in tight containers and mark with substance name, amount and date. Send for recovery, or treatment according to agreement.
