Results and discussion
- Preliminary study:
- Test solutions of the test substance dissolved in buffer solutions adjusted to pH 4.0, pH 7.0 and pH 9.0 were found to precipitate, due to agglomeration of the test article with the salts of the buffer solutions.
The concentrations of the half-saturated test solutions containing 1 % dimethylsulfoxide were determined to be lower than 1 mg/l by photometric measurements.
For technical reasons the performance of the hydrolysis study with the test-substance half-saturated in aqueous buffer solutions containing 1 % dimethylsulfoxide is not possible according to the guideline in force. Therefore, the hydrolysis reaction of the test substance was determined in deionized water.
The HPLC chromatograms of the test solutions obtained after an incubation of 5 days at 50.0 °C were compared with the HPLC chromatograms obtained for the untreated test solutions. No additional peaks were found after the performance of the hydrolysis test.
According to this result, it could be stated that a test solution of the test substance in deionised water is hydrolytically stable. According to the guidelines, the criteria of less than 10 % hydrolysis reaction after 5 days was met and therefore no further testing is necessary.
In conclusion, the half-life time of the test substance dissolved in deionised water was estimated to be longer than one year at 25 °C. - Transformation products:
