Short-term toxicity to fish
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- short-term toxicity to fish
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 1991-08-12 to 1991-10-21
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: see 'Remark'
- Remarks:
- OECD guideline study (although the study is according to an older OECD 203 version it is similar to the uptodate/revised OECD 203 (1992) , GLP. Nevertheless, few deviations from the guidelines were reported in the study report (see below in "materials and methods"- Test guideline").

Sampling and analysis
- Analytical monitoring:
- yes
- Details on sampling:
- Concentrations, sampling method and sample storage conditions before analysis: Samples (about 150 mL in duplicate) of each test concentration were drawn from the approximate center of the test vessels. They were taken immediately before the exposure and after 96 hours exposure and kept at - 18°C to - 22°C until analysis.
Test solutions
- Vehicle:
- yes
- Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
- Method: 6 g test substance and 54 g from an aqueous solution containing 0.4 % lecithine were mixed by means of a marble-mill for about 12 h.
- Controls: Blank: dechlorinated tap water, Vehicle: 3.6 mg lecithine/L
- Concentration of vehicle in test medium: 3.6 mg lecithine/L
- Evidence of undissolved material (e.g. precipitate, surface film, etc): After calculated amounts of the stock solution (to produce the desired test concentrations) were given into the water and homogeneously distributed and transfered into the aquaria, small parts of the test substance swimming at the surface of the test vessels and a strong deposit were observed at all test times and concentrations.
