Executive summary:

The surface tension of N,N-dimethyldecylamine N-oxide has been determined to be in the range 31.4 -31.5 mN/m at a concentration of 1.02 g/L at 21.5 +/-0.5 °C using a ring method designed to be compatible with Method A5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 and OECD TG 115. The substance is considered to be surface-active.

Description of key information

The surface tension is 31.4 -31.5 mN/m at 21.5 +/-0.5 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
31.4
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1 020

Additional information

The surface tension of the substance was measured in a test conducted in accordance with the procedure described in EU Regulation (EC) 440/2008, Annex Part A test A5 (ring method) under GLP [Woolley AJ (2012 )]. Due to the high solubility of the substance, a concentration of 1.02 g/L was used. Measurements were made in duplicate. The derived value for surface tension was 31.4 -31.5 mN/m at 21.5 +/-0.5 °C. The substance is considered to be surface-active.
