Secondary data indicates that the substance is corrosive to rabbit skin after 24h exposure. Therefore, no further experimental data on eye irritation is needed. Corrosive properties are consistent with release of hydrochloric acid upon contact with water. Therefore, the hazard class of HCl is applied.

Additional information
The substance reacts with water to release hydrochloric acid. Therefore corrosive properties are expected. A study on acute dermal irritation performed in 1972 under the US TSCA8e law, and some information on this study is publicly available. All six rabbits showed corrosion of the skin (Draize score 4 on a scale of 0 -4) at the 4h, 24h and 48h reading. Shorter exposures or observation points are not available. From the overall data presentation, it is likely that the amount applied is the standard dose of 0.5g per animal, although no specific information is given. From this information, it is not possible to make a distinction as to subcategories corrosive/highly corrosive. However, the substance releases hydrochloric acid upon contact with water. Therefore, the legal classification of hydrochloric acid is applied (C; R34 or GHS Category 1B).
