pH was maintained between 7.4 and 7.7 during the study, O2between 7.8 and 8.3 mg/L and temperature 20 to 21 °C. 100% mortality of Daphnids was observed at nominal test concentrations of 2 mg/L and above. At the 1.0 mg/L (nominal) test concentration effects were observed on the fecundity, the number of offspring per Parent Daphnid being significantly inferior to that of the Control. The NOEC (21-day) was 0.5 mg/L (nominal) / 0.18 mg/L (measured - extrapolated).

- Executive summary:
The long-term toxicity of CYCLOHEXYL SALICYLATE to Daphnids(Daphnia magna) was studied in reconstituted water over a period of 21-Days under semi-static renewal conditions. Test concentrations studied were 0.3, 0.5. 1, 2.0, 3.0, 5.0 and 10 mg/L (nominal) and a Control. Substance specific analyses showed that between 40 and 60% of the nominal test concentration was detected in Time 0 samples. Losses of CYCLOHEXYL SALICYLATE from the test system was up to 70% over a 24 hour period. It was suggested in the report that the initial analysed concentration was 50% of the nominal, and that the value was 25% of nominal in the aged medium prior to being changed. For example, at the nominal concentration of 0.5 mg/L, the initial analysed concentration would be 0.25 mg/L and the concentration in the aged medium 0.12 mg/L, suggesting an average measured exposure concentration of 0.18 mg/L. Mortality and fecundity were measured during the course of the experiment
