Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing stops, provide artificial respiration. Get medical attention
immediately.

Skin Contact: Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Immediately take off all
contaminated clothing. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists. Wash
contaminated clothing before reuse.

Eye Contact: Immediately flush eye(s) with plenty of water. Get medical attention.

Ingestion: Consult a physician.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Substance contains residual solvent N,N-Dimethylformamide. May cause cancer. May cause reproductive effects.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical or water.

Unsuitable extinguising media: None known

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions. Dust may form explosive mixture with air.

Advice for firefigherts: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.

Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Do not sweep. Collect spill using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter. If vacuum is not available,
lightly mist/wet material and remove by mopping or wet wiping. Be aware of potential for dust
explosion when using electrical equipment.

Handling and storage

Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

N,N-Dimethylformamide (CAS 68-12-2) - STEL 30mg/m3, TWA 10ppm / 15mg/m3/5ppm

No biological exposure limits noted for the ingredient(s).

Preliminary guidance: Control exposures to between 20 ug/m3 and 100 ug/m3 until an OEL is
established.

Open handling is not recommended. Use appropriate control measures such as fume hood,
ventilated enclosure, isolator (eg. glovebag, glovebox), or closed material transfer systems.

Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN 166.

Protective gloves complying with EN 374.

Chemical-resistant gloves and impermeable body covering to minimize skin contact.

Use a properly fitted, air purifying or air fed respirator complying with an approved standard if a risk
assessment indicated that is necessary. If material is handled in a fume hood or ventilated
enclosure, consider using redundant respiratory protection. Respirator selection must be based on
known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the
respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government
standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Stability and reactivity

Not water reactive.

This material should not be packaged or stored above the following temperature: 120 °C. (248°F).
This temperature is based on a laboratory test (DSC) and assumes near atmospheric pressures
and quantities of less than 500 kg (1100 lb) or 208 L (55 gal).

Hazardous polymerisation does not occur.

Conditions to avoid: none known

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidising substances

Hazardous decomposition products: Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions.

Disposal considerations

Dispose in accordance with all applicable regulations.
