Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

- General advice: The toxicological properties of this material have not been fully investigated. If exposed or concerned, get medical advice/attention. Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to protect themselves.
Inhalation: Move casualty to fresh air. Seek medical advice.

Skin contact: Wash off with soap and water. Seek medical advice.

Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical attention or advice.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Call a physician or poison control centre. Do not induce vomiting without advice from poison control centre.
Information for doctor: Treat symptomatically.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: No further relevant information available.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media: Water fog. Foam. Dry chemical powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2).
- Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.
- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: During fire, gases hazardous to health may be formed
- Advice for fire fighter: Protective equipment: Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.
Additional information: Material will burn in a fire.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions: Keep unnecessary personnel away. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation of vapours or mists. Wear appropriate protective equipment and clothing during clean-up. Ensure adequate ventilation. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. For personal protection, see section 8 of the SDS.

- Environmental precautions: Avoid release to the environment. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground. Inform appropriate managerial or supervisory personnel of all environmental releases.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Large Spills: Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Dike the spilled material, where this is possible. A vapour-suppressing foam may be used to reduce vapours. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Prevent product from entering drains. Following product recovery, flush area with water. Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water.

Small Spills: Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination. Never return spills to original containers for re-use. For waste disposal, see section 13 of the SDS.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling: Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid prolonged exposure. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation of vapours or mists. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid release to the environment. Observe good industrial hygiene practices.
- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in a well-ventilated place. Store in original tightly closed container. Store under inert gas. Store away from incompatible materials (see Section 10 of the SDS). Keep cool. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep away from sources of ignition - no smoking

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures: Good general ventilation (typically 10 air changes per hour) should be used. Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions. If applicable, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits. If exposure limits have not been established, maintain airborne levels to an acceptable level.
2. Organisational protection measures
3. Hand protection:The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product / the substance / the preparation. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation.
Material of gloves: Use gloves EN ISO 374-1/A. This class of glove should have a breakthrough time in excess of 30 minutes.

Penetration time of glove material: The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed

4. Body protection: Protective overall.
5. Eye protection: Safety goggles
6. Respiratory protection: Approved respirator (e.g. EN 149:2001 FFP3) if ventilation is insufficient

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity : Not determined
2. Chemical stability : Not determined
3. Possibility of hazardous reactions : Not determined
4. Conditions to avoid : Contact with incompatible materials. Avoid temperatures exceeding the flash point. Exposure to air.
5. Incompatible materials : Strong oxidising agents.
6. Hazardous decomposition products: Thermal decomposition or combustion may produce carbon oxides

Disposal considerations

Collect and reclaim or dispose in sealed containers at licensed waste disposal site. Do not allow this material to drain into sewers/water supplies. Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with chemical or used container. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations
