TREATMENT OF TEST MATERIAL PRIOR TO TESTING
- Treatment of test material prior to testing: Approximately 100 mg of test item was diluted to volume (100 mL) with purified water. The resulting dispersion was then diluted in series 10 to 100 mL with purified water and then 4.14 to 100 mL with purified water.
- Final dilution of a dissolved solid, stock liquid or gel: The final sample concentration (4.1 mg/L) was equivalent to 90% of the saturation level determined in the water solubility test.

From the measurements, it was observed that there was an initial decrease in surface tension readings. The final surface tension result was taken from the measurements between 10 and 30 minutes.

Mean calibration corrected surface tension = 53.5 mN/m

Harkins-Jordan corrected value = 51.0 mN/m

Conclusions:
Triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated) is considered to be a surface active substance as the surface tension of a 90% saturated solution of the test item was 51.0 mN/m.

The surface tension of triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated) was determined in a study conducted according to OECD 115 and EC A.5 guidelines. The surface tension of a 90% saturated solution of the test item was determined at 20°C with a surface tension torsion balance using the OECD harmonised ring method.
