Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Growth inhibition : EC A (I) 50 - 72 hours is included between 10.0 and 100.0 mg/L

Executive summary:

MADAM DMS was tested for evaluation of the inhibition of growth and reproduction induced by a test susbtance in an unicellular freshwater green alga over an exposure period of 72 hours

Blue-green algae (Scenedesmus subspicatus) were exposed in a reconstituted medium at 23oC for 72 hours. The pH was carefully monitored throughout the study. Concentrations of 0.0, 1.0, 10, and 100.0 mg/l of test substance were used. Algal concentrations were measured after 24, 48 and 72 hours.

Result:

Growth inhibition : EC A (I) 50 - 72 hours is included between 10.0 and 100.0 mg/L

Growth rate inhibition - ECµ (I) 50 - 72 hours is higher than 100.0 mg/L.
