Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
21 july 2017 to 18 oct 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The test is carried out according to EC Regulation No.440/2008 - Annex A.10. The substance is formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long and a preliminary screening test performed to determine if, on ignition by a flame, propagation by burning with flame or smouldering occurs. If propagation over 200 mm of the train occurs within a specified time then a full test programme to determine the burning rate is carried out.
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Chemical name: Glycerides, C12-C18 mono-, di- and tri
CAS No.: 91052-53-8
EC No. : 293-214-0
Appearance: a white solid without irritating odor
Resource: the test item was provided by the sponsor
Package: in a glass bottle, and in good conditions
Amount: 738g
Storage Conditions: stored at ambient temperature
Test procedure:
burning time over 250 mm for metal powders or metal alloys
Burning time:
ca. 2 min

Phenomena and results from two independent preliminary screening tests, were identical as following:

- the sample could be ignited within 2 min;

- after removal of ignition, the sample didn’t propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smoldering along 200 mm of the train within the 4 min.

It can be ascertained that the sample is not a highly flammable solid based on the results of the preliminary screening test.

Conclusions:
The sample is not a highly flammable solid.
Executive summary:

1.1 Study Title

Test for Flammability of Glycerides, C12-C18 mono-, di- and tri

1.2 Purpose

The purpose of the study is to determine the flammability of the sample, Glycerides, C12 -C18 mono -, di - and tri.

1.3 Analytical results

Summary of analytical results is presented in Table 1.

Table 1 Summary of Analytical Results

1                                 Flammability                   EC Regulation No.440/2008 - Annex A.10

Analytical results: The test show that the sample could be ignited within 2 min; after removal of of ignition, the sample didn’t propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smoldering along 200 mm of the train within the 4 min.

Conclusion: the sample is not a highly flammable solid.
