Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish

No data on toxicity to fish was available for the registration substance itself. Therefore, a read across from the structural analogue Yellow 22 (CAS 90268-98-7) is conducted.

In the 96-hour test according to OECD Guideline 203 on Danio rerio Yellow 22 (CAS 90268 -98 -7) had no toxic effect on fish at aquatic saturation (i.e. limit test concentration). Accordingly, the 96 -h NOEC was determined to be 0.040 mg/L and the LOEC > 0.040 mg/L (based on total product), equivalent to 100 mg/L and > 100 mg/L nominal loading rate respectively.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

In the acute 48-hour Daphnia magna immobilisation study performed with the WAF (according to OECD Series on Testing and Assessment No. 23) including a nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L (total product), the obtained results showed that the test item had not any significant toxic effect on the test system. The 48 -h NOEC was determined to be 0.2 mg/L (limit of detection, nominal 100 mg/L). The 48 -h LOEC was determined to be >0.2 mg/L (limit of detection, nominal >100 mg/L).

Toxicity to aquatic plants other than algae

Since the test item is a dye which is expected to stain the water, the test on aquatic algae was not performed. In a Growth Inhibition Test with Lemna sp. according to OECD Guideline 221 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 761/2009, Annex VI, C.26 the LOEC for growth rate and biomass were determined to be > 0.591 mg/L. The 7-d NOEC of the test item both for growth tate and biomass was determined to be 0.591 mg/L (geom.mean measured).

Toxicity to microorganisms

No data on toxicity to aquatic microorganisms were available for the registration substance itself. Therefore, a read across from the structural analogue Yellow 22 (CAS 90268-98-7) was conducted.

In an Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test according to OECD Guideline 209 with the read across substance Yellow 22 (CAS 90268-98-7), no influence on the specific respiration rates up to 1000 mg/L were shown. The EC50 (3h) was > 1000 mg/L and the NOEC (3h) was 1000 mg/L.
