Test guideline
- Qualifier:
- no guideline available
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- The day prior to application of test article, the fur was removed from the dorsal area of the trunk of each rabbit, being careful to avoid abrading the skin. The test article was administered on the clipped dorsal trunk of each animal on Day 1 at 2000 mg/kg based upon the initial body weight. The specific gravity of the test article is 1.07 g/ml. The exposure time was 24 hours.
The test substance was applied to a small area of skin and covered with a gauze patch. The patch was held in contact with the skin with a sheet of rubber dam. The trunk of the animal was wrapped with an elastic bandage dressing which was held in place with non-irritating tape for the duration of the exposure period. Access by the animal to the patch and resultant ingestion\inhalation of the test substance was prevented.
At the end of the exposure period, residual test article was removed using water and gauze without altering the existing response or the integrity of the epidermis. Each site was unwrapped and scored. - GLP compliance:
- yes
- Test type:
- fixed dose procedure
