Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Aquatic toxicity data of barium dibenzoate are not available. Read-across to the assessment entities soluble barium substances and benzoic acid is applied for the assessment of barium benzoate since the ions of barium dibeozoate determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. Based on dissolved barium concentrations in solution, the ErC50 and NOEC for growth inhibition of algae are >1.15 and >=1.15 mg Ba/L, respectively. Reliable data available for benzoate indicate that benzoate has a low to moderate potential for toxicity to algae; i.e. the lowest EC10 and EC50 values amount to 3.3 mg/L and 33.1 mg/L, respectively. Thus, barium dibenzoate is expected to have a low potential for toxicity to algae.
