- Test procedure:
- burning rate test: preliminary screening test
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- not classified based on GHS criteria
- Conclusions:
- The substance, Dimethyldioctylammonium chloride was tested for flammability in accordance with UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 and VDI 2263, Sheet 1 (2006) via a GLP certified Laboratory. During the preliminary screening test, no propagation of combustion of the test item along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed and is therefore not classified based on GHS criteria.
- Executive summary:
The substance, Dimethyldioctylammonium chloride was tested for flammability in accordance with UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 and VDI 2263, Sheet 1 (2006) via a GLP certified Laboratory. The test item was filled in a mould of a length of 250 mm, an inner height of 10 mm and a thickness of 20 mm. As lateral limitations, metal plates were attached at the end of the mould which project 2 mm above the limitation of the mould. The test item was filled loosely into the mould. Then, the mould was closed and the test item was compacted by dropping the mould threefold down from a height of 20 mm onto a solid surface. If the test item could be compressed in that way, the mould was filled up again with test item and compressed again. As ignition source, a flame was applied on the test item until it ignites or for at least 2 minutes. The main test has to be performed in case the test item burns over a distance of 200 mm within 4 minutes. During the preliminary screening test, no propagation of combustion of the test item along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed and is therefore not classified based on GHS criteria.
