Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
270 s
Remarks on result:
other: The test item could be ignited but the flame extinguished after a burning distance of 90 mm (270 sec.)
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item Lithium salicylate could be ignited but the flame extinguished after a burning distance of 90 mm with a burning time of 270sec. Due to this result the preliminary test was negative. Therefore, the performance of the main test was not necessary.
Executive summary:

Lithium Salicylate is not classified as readily combustible solid in Class 4, Division 4.1 according to the UN Transport Regulation nor as flammable solid according to GHS / CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.7.

Description of key information

The test item Lithium salicylate could be ignited but the flame extinguished after a burning distance of 90 mm with a burning time of 270 sec.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Since the study was GLP compliant and followed the aforementioned guidelines, the study was given a reliability rating of 1 (reliable without restrictions).

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the preliminary test the test item burned at ambient temperature over a burning time of 270 sec a burning distance of 90 mm before the flame extinguished. Therefore, the limit for classification according to the UN Transport Regulation and GHS (CLP Regulation EC1272/2008 Annex 1; 2.7)) or Regulation EC440/2008 (2 min (120 s) or 4 min (240 s)), respectively, was exceeded. The test item is not classified as readily combustible solid in Class 4, Division 4.1 according to the UN Transport Regulation nor as flammable solid according to GHS / CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.7.
