- Flash point:
- ca. 56 °C
- Atm. press.:
- ca. 1 013 hPa
- Interpretation of results:
- Category 3 (flammable liquids) based on GHS criteria
- Conclusions:
- The flash point of the test item is therefore 56.0°C (329.15 K) at 1013 hPa (equilibration time extended to 300 seconds).
- Executive summary:
The study was performed in order to determine the flash point of test item according to EU A.9 guideline, using a Rapid equilibrium closed cup method (ISO3679, 2015).
The flashpoint of the test item is stated as 56.0°C (329.15 K) at 1013 hPa.
Therefore, test item is classiifed as FLAMMABLE LIQUID cat 3 according to UN GHS criteria and Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP) criteria.

The results of the first 11 flash point determinations in the main test were not in accordance with the preliminary test. While the preliminary test showed ignitions at temperatures of 71 °C, 76 °C, and 81 °C the main test did not show ignitions at temperatures between 71 °C and 121 °C. It was concluded that the ignition is dependent on the test mode. In the preliminary test continuous repetitive dipping of the flame into the sample vessel is performed while the temperature is elevated. In the main test only one dipping of the flame is performed at constant temperature after 60 seconds (2 ml) or 120 seconds (4 ml) of equilibration.
In the interest of safety the main test was adapted. The following flash point determinations (see Table 3) were performed at constant temperature but with continuous dipping of the flame into the sample vessel (approximately every 10 seconds). The time after which ignition occurred was also recorded. The equilibration time was extended to 300 seconds.
