 2 Determination  367.79
 3 Determination  365.41
 Min  365.41
 Max  371.23

Interpretation of the measurements

Three reasonable endothermic events were detected in all three measurements. In all determinations a baseline rising was observed. The crucible was opened after measurement of the first determination, the test substance was rarely changed and after measurement of the third determination with a higher temperature a black residue was visible.

In pre-tests the colour change which is a sign of decomposition was observed. The colour change and the base line rising confirmed this.

Therefore the first event should be stated as solid-solid transition (at temperature ≥ 282.59 ≤ 286.03 °C), the second event as melting point, the third event as boiling point and the beginning of the decomposition in the third determination was evaluated with event mark function of the DSC software.

Conclusions:
The beginning of boiling point of sodium hydrogen m-sulphonatobenzoate has been determined at 365.41 °C (638.56 K).
Executive summary:

The determination of the boiling point of sodium 3-sulfobenzoate was performed via DSC (differential scanning calorimetry), according to OECD Guideline 103 and EU Method A.2. As a result, the boiling point of sodium 3-sulfobenzoate is ≥ 365.41 °C ≤ 371.23 °C.
