Description of key information

Appearance / physical state / colour:

The appearance of N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine was observed to be Colorless to pale yellow liquid organic compound.

Melting point/ Freezing point:

The Freezing point of N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine is determined. No freezing was observed up to -10.33 °C. Hence, the freezing point was inferred to be less than -10.33°C.

Boiling point:

Based on prediction done using MPBPVP v1.43, the Boiling point of chemical N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine was estimated to be 269.89 ˚C.

Density:

The density of chemical N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine was estimated to be 0.943 ± 0.06 g/cm3 at 20 °C and 760 mmHg pressure.

Particle size distribution (Granulometry):

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REAcH regulation this end point was considered for waiver since the chemical N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine is a liquid and is expected to be marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of the test substance N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine at 25 deg C was 0.793 Pa (0.00594 mm Hg).

Partition coefficient:

Octanol water partition coefficient of the test chemicalN-ethyl-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)propan-2-amine(CAS no.14367 -46 -5) was estimated. The estimated log POW of theN-ethyl-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)propan-2-amine was 2.79 dimesionless. On the basis of estimated value, theN-ethyl-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)propan-2-aminecan be considered as hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

The estimated water solubility of test substance N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine at 25 deg C was 1984 mg/l.

Surface tension:

Based on the prediction done by ACD labs, the surface tension for chemical N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine was predicted to be 31.4 ± 3.0 dyne/cm.

Flash point:

The flash point of N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine was estimated as 116.1 ± 9.8 °C.

Autoflammability:

N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus N-ethyl-p-methoxy-α-methylphenethylamine was considered non-flammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidising properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
