Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
Components of the substance like calcium carbonate and silicates are inorganic and are expected to have a low potential for adsorption to sediment. They do not undergo biodegradation i.e. microbial degradation to carbon dioxide and water. Calcium carbonate will be degraded in the environment by means other than biodegradation. The ions will dissociate; calcium will be assimilated by species in the water and is necessary to maintain a good chemical balance in soils, water and plants and carbonate will become part of the carbon cycle. Calcium carbonate is a commonly occurring substance in the environment. Silica /silicates are one of the most abundant materials in earth´s surface and calcium silicate is an inorganic, stable/inert compound which is not biologically transformed. A sediment simulation test for the substance is therefore scientifically not justified.
