Description of key information

Appearance / physical state / colour.

The substance was observed to be a yellow semi-solid during performance of various GLP guideline studies.

Melting point / freezing point.

31 ± 3 °C (304 ± 3 K) using a modified pour point method, designed to be compatible with Method A1 Melting/Freezing Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 102 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995. The pour point temperature may decrease if the test item undergoes agitation.

Boiling Point.

Partially boiled from approximately 198 °C (471 K) at 103 kPa by differential scanning calorimetry, designed to be compatible with Method A2 Boiling Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 103 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995. The components of the test item that had not boiled may subsequently have started to decompose.

Density.

0.994 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C and a relative density of 0.994, using a gas comparison pycnometer, designed to be compatible with Method A3 Relative Density of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 109 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 02 October 2012

Particle size distribution (Granulometry).

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form

 

Vapor pressure

0.254 Pa @ 25 Deg C

Partition coefficient

Has been determined at 23.5 ± 0.5 °C and the results are as follows:

Water solubility

Has been determined at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C using a nominal loading rate of 10% and the results are as follows:

Although, additional testing demonstrated that the water solubility of the components was loading rate dependent.

 

Surface tension

The mean surface tension of a duplicate solutions prepared at nominally 1 g/L solutions of test item in water has been determined to be 40.0 mN/m at 21.8 ± 0.5 °C. The test item was considered to be surface-active.

 

Flash Point.

99 ± 2°C, using a closed cup equilibrium method designed to be compatible with Method A.9 Flash Point of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

 

Auto-Ignition Temperature

(Liquids and Gases). 296 ± 5 °C, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.15 Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Explosive Properties

Were Predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.14 Explosive Properties of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

  

Oxidizing Properties

(Liquids). Predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.21 Oxidising Properties (Liquids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.
