Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Skin: the substance is not irritating to skin based on an OECD 404 study with rabbits.

Eye: the substance is strongly irritating to eye based on two OECD 405 studies with rabbits. The signs of irritation are not fully reversible within 21 d.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin irritation / corrosion

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not irritating)

Eye irritation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (irreversible damage)

Respiratory irritation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Skin: due to the lack of irritation signs, the substance is not classifiable according to GHS criteria.

Eye: in the key study (high substance purity), severe signs of irritaion occured which were not reversible after 8 d (maximum observation period). However, the GHS classification for Category 1 is "not reversible within 21 d". Since the reversibility after 21 d was not shown in a supporting study (lower substance purity) for cornea opacity, the substance is classifiable according to GHS criteria as Category 1 (damaging eyes, not fully reversible within 21 d).
