Description of key information

The experimental bioconcentration factors and the available log Kow  values indicate low  bioaccumulation potential.

Additional information

One test result drawn from the "Data of existing chemicals based on the CSCL Japan" corresponding to the OECD 305 guideline is available. Results of this BCF study, reveal that the substance does not accumulate in organisms (BCF of 3.9 - 40 for Cyprinus carpio). Additionally, a study performend by Monsanto showes a BCF of 41 in the wohle body and a BCF of 15 in the muscle of Lepomis macrochirus. This results rule out appreciable bioaccumulation.

Several studies on the bioaccumulation of chlorobenzene were summarised in the assessment of the BUA report 54 (1990). Some of these studies were reliable studies with restrictions, not reliable or reliability was not assignable because references were only cited as secondary literature. For fathead minnow a BCF of 447 has been stated after an exposure of 28 days. Bioconcentration factors of 50, 75 and 1700 were also determined for Algae, golden orfe and activated sludge, respectively.Yet, these tests are not standard tests but taking all available information into account the substance indicates a marginal potential to bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms.
