Preliminary Test
Two samples of the test item (clear yellow liquid) were heated from 25 °C up to 400 °C with a heating rate of 10 °C/min. The boiling of the test item started at 272 °C and 276 °C, respectively. After the measurements the test item was a clear brown liquid. The observed change in color is possibly due to decomposition of the test item.
The atmospheric pressure during the measurement was 99.1 kPa.
Main Tests
In order to determine the boiling point more precisely, a second capillary test was performed. Two samples of the test item (clear yellow liquid) were heated from 220 °C up to 340 °C with a heating rate of 5 °C/min. The test item boiled at about 276 °C. After the measurement the test item was a clear orange liquid. To verify this result, a DSC-run was performed from 25 °C up to 400 °C with a rate of 10 °C/min. A broad endothermic heat effect starting between 200 °C and 250 °C with an onset of 273.47 °C was observed. After the measurement, the sample had lost 89.5 % of its mass and a brown residue remained in the sample cup. The change in color may be result of decomposition of the test item.
