Manganese dioxide is an inorganic substance and the biodegradation test is scientifically unjustified according to REACH regulation (EC n. 1907/2006), annex VII, column 2.

As reported in SIDS Dossier of MnO2 approved at SIAM 25 (17 -18 October 2007) with reference to unpublished NIER studies tested by KRICT (Korea 2006, Report No EG06039 about fish, EG06041 about Daphia magna, EG06043 about algae) this chemical is stable in water and also in soil. The oxidation state of manganese MnO2 is +4 which exists mostly as a precipitated form.
