- Executive summary:
The present study was performed to determine the influence of FAT 36152/D on the growth of the green alga Scenedesmus subspicatus Chodat in a 96-hour static test according to the OECD Guideline No. 201. The nominal concentrations tested were 0.25, 0.50, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 mg/l and a control without any additions and a solvent control group. FAT 36152/D has obviously an inhibition effect on the growth of Scenedesmus subspicatus. The inhibition was calculated for both parameters, the algae biomass (determined as the area under the growth curve) and the growth rate µ:
Biomass:
- EbC50 (0 - 96 h) = 2.0 mg test substance/l
- EbC0 (0 - 96 h) <0.25 mg test substance/l
- EbC100 (0 - 96 h) >4.0 mg test substance/l
Growth rate µ:
EµC50 (0 - 96 h) >4.0 mg test substance/l
EµC0 (0 - 96 h) <0.25 mg test substance/l
The measured test substance concentrations in the analysed test media of the nominal concentrations 1.0 and 4.0 mg/l amounted from below the lowest calibration point of the analytical method to 23.0 % of the nominal values. Due to the fact that the test substance is not soluble in water, homogeneous samples for the analytical measurements could obviously not be taken. Samples with a nominal concentration lower than 1.0 mg/l were not detectable. Since the measured concentration in the stock solution amounted to 93.0 % of the nominal value, the reported results are related to the nominal concentrations of the test substance.
