TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
- Source/preparation of dilution water:
All test media were prepared using carbon filtered, deionized
water (conductivity < 2 μS/cm, DOC assumed to be zero) and chemicals (reagent grade)
purchased from VWR (Leuven, Belgium). The composition of the basic medium (test medium
with low concentrations of all major cations: 0.12 mM Ca, 0.12 mM Mg, 0.078 mM K, 0.595
mM Na) was based on the medium recommended for algal growth inhibition tests as described by
OECD guideline 201 (1996).
OTHER TEST CONDITIONS
- Adjustment of pH: no
- Photoperiod: light cycle of 12L:12D
EFFECT PARAMETERS MEASURED (with observation intervals if applicable) :
The endpoints tested were growth reduction, mortality and behaviour.
For determination of dissolved nickel concentrations, samples were taken twice a week - Reference substance (positive control):
- not specified
