Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The n-octanol/water partition coefficient cannot be determined experimentally due to technical problems. The use of a QSAR programme resulted in a calculated partition coefficient of log Pow = -1.57.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-1.57
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Tests on the octanol/water partition coefficient of hydrogen peroxide can not be performed due to technical problems: The shake flask method is not applicable (risk of violent reactions). The HPLC-method is not applicable for substances which react with the solvent and for substances with a log Pow below 0. The solubility in octanol can not be determined since hydrogen peroxide should not be mixed with organic solvents. The n-octanol/water partition coefficient can be calculated using a QSAR programme. The calculation of the partition coefficient for hydrogen peroxide revealed a value log Pow = -1.57 (Brachold 2006).
