Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
> 120 s

Propagation of combustion with a flame was observed when an ignition source (flame or hot wire, 2 min) was applied at ambient temperature. The product did not melt.

The combustion behaviour of the product at ambient temperature is characterized by the burning index BZ 5 (burning with flame or spark generation)

Due to the fact that propagation of the combustion was observed the burning rate need to be determined. In the preliminary test the flame extinguished after a distance of max. 2 cm reproducibly. Therefore, the main test need not to be conducted.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Combustion Number (BZ) 5 was determined, the burning rate was > 120 s.
Therefore, the substance has not to be classified as flammable solid according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

Test procedure:
other: burning index according to VDI 2263
Remarks on result:
other: burning index BZ 3
Remarks:
localized compustion or glowing with practically no spreading

Local burning without propagation of combustion was observed when an ignition source (flame or hot wire, 2 min) was applied at ambient temperature. The product did not melt.

The combustion behaviour of the product at ambient temperature is characterized by the burning index BZ 3 (localized compustion or glowing with practically no spreading). The same behaviour was recorded in the test conducted at 100°C.

Due to the fact that propagation of the combustion was not observed the burning rate did not need to be determined.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Combustion Number (BZ) 3 was determined.
Therefore, the substance has not to be classified as flammable solid according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
