Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The density or relative density at 20 °C for benzyl benzoate is stated to be between 1.12 - 1.21. Publications by Naves et al (1961) as well as Hon et al. (1976) use water t 4 °C as a reference material, however, do not state the exact method how the density was measured. Lide (2007) does only supply a value of 1.112 at 25 °C. When taking these aspects into account, a value of 1.1 at 20 °C seems reasonable.
