Additional information

Data on physical and chemical properties for tert-dodecanethiol (CAS 25103 -58 -6) have been taken from a number of primary and secondary sources. The data in these secondary sources are based on a critical evaluation of peer-reviewed data and the selected values are considered to be reliable and representative of the property under investigation. Information on the review process was documented in the introduction of the source. The use of Klimisch codes (Klimisch et al. 1997) was extended to these secondary sources and a reliability code of (2) valid with restrictions was assigned when using the authoritative secondary source. Data for some endpoints will be added when testing is complete.

The solubility was determined in a GLP modified OECD 105 using a slow-stir method obtaining a solubility of 3.93 µg/L.

Review of the collated information indicates that tert-dodecanethiol is less dense than water. Tert-dodecanethiol is expected to volatilize from surface waters based on an estimated Henry's Law constant of 19276.2 Pa.m3.mole-1 at 25°C.

The log Kow was estimated at 7.43 using a validated QSAR based on the measure water solubility value.

The properties of tert-dodecanethiol indicate that it would not be classified as explosive, oxidising or flammable under CLP or DSD.
