Additional information

One study is available with Didodecyl fumarate (CAS 2402-58-6), performed according to a German national guideline DIN 38412, part 27 (Kirch, 1995). In this study the inhibition of oxygen consumption for a 10000 mg/L filtered test item solution was measured after 30 min exposure time with Pseudomonas putida. As no inhibition was observed, the EL50 (30 min) is > 10000 mg/L. The test is reliable, but not appropriate enough for current regulatory demands and is therefore used as supporting information. Therefore, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 Grouping of substances, a read-across to the structurally related category member Ditetradecyl fumarate (CAS 10341-03-4) was conducted. Further justification is given within the endpoint summary 6.1 and within the category justification section 13. In this case of read-across, the best suited (highest degree of structural similarity, nearest physico-chemical properties) read-across substance within this category was used.

The study with Ditetradecyl fumarate (CAS 10341-03-4) was performed according to OECD 209 and GLP using domestic activated sludge as inoculum (Hammer, 2013). Concentrations of 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/L (nominal) were tested. The test substance was added in the required amounts according to the test concentrations directly to the test vessels. No respiration inhibition was observed up to the highest test substance concentration. The EC10 and EC50 are therefore > 1000 mg/L.

Due to the structural and property similarities with the tested category member Ditetradecyl fumarate (CAS 10341-03-4) this result is applicable to read across to Didodecyl fumarate (CAS 2402-58-6).
