Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Based on the experimental data and the high log Pow, the substance is not expected to bioaccumulate.

The Bioconcentration Factors (BCF) for the calcium salt of toluene sulfonic acid based on total radioactivity in the whole fish after 42 days were calculated to be < 64 at a concentration of 0.0010 mg/L and 58 at a concentration of 0.010 mg/L.The Bioconcentration Factors (BCFk) after 39 days were calculated to be 38 at a concentration of 0.0010 mg/L and 64 at a concentration of 0.010mg/L. Based also on the log Pow (> 7.4) with an extrapolated value of 12.4, which is an indicator of reduced bioconcentration. The compound is therefore not expected to bioaccumulate.

The calcium salt of toluene sulfonic acid is considered to be representative of toluene sulfonic acid as the salt rapidly dissociates into the appropriate ions and is suitable for read-across as a structural analogue.
