Test guideline

- no guideline available
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- The auto-ignition behavior was examined under the screening test by Grewer (Grewer Oven, VDI 2263). To do so, the sample is placed in a small wire basket of 8 cm3 volume and is heated with a preheated stream of air at a heating rate of 1.8 K / min. The temperature in the interior of the sample is compared to an inert reference substance (graphite).
In case of the sample melts before or during the oxidation reaction, an additional measurement of the sample in a mixture with diatomaceous earth (1:1) is carried out . With this test, the self-ignition potential of the sample in contact with porous materials with high specific surface, for example Insulation material or deposits will be adjusted. - GLP compliance:
- no

Any other information on results incl. tables
When tested for auto-ignition in a small wire basket of 8cm3 (Grewer Oven) with the pure product was up to 440 °C no spontaneous combustion. At a temperature of 140 -170 °C, the melting of the product is observed.
Before the onset of spontaneous combustion the pure product flowed
out from the wire basket.
After the experiment, the wire
basket was empty.
In the test for auto-ignition
when mixed with diatomaceous earth (1:1) auto-ignition took place at a
temperature of 200 °C and led to arise in temperature to over 310°C.
The beginning of the
self-ignition is observed in a similar manner in the DSC under 20 bar
air. From 340°C further oxidative decomposition is registered. At a
temperature of 140-170 °C, the melting of the product is also observed.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The substance is not auto-flammable.
