Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance is inorganic and insoluble. It may however appear in the environment as particulate matter which may be mobile. Hence, for risk assessment considerations, its Koc is set as 1 L/kg (log Koc=0). Mobility of particles depends on their size and hence their sedimentation velocity. The mass medium diameter or the substance solids is 34.5 µm, i.e. the texture of fine sand. It is likely that the waste majority of the particles (if not all) will sediment during the second STP sedimentation process (as such or flocculated) and will hence be not part of effluents. The finest particles (D10=6.71 µm) might pass STP clearance and reach surface waters, where there will be a final sedimentation with time where particles will contribute to the naturally occurring pool of the substance. Groundwater contamination is excluded since particles of any size are assumed to be filtered during passage through sediment and/or soil layers.
