Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
ring method
Surface tension:
70.7 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
0.99 g/L
Conclusions:
The surface tension of the test substance was determined to be 70.7 mN/m at 20+/- 0.5 °C.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item was determined according to the European Commission Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Annex, Part A, A.5. and OECD Test Guideline 115, ring method.

Due to the high solubility of the test item in distilled water of 320 g/L, a solution with a nominal concentration of 1 g/L of the test item in distilled water was applied to this test. For preparation of this test solution 198.18 mg of the test item were dissolved in 200 mL of distilled water. The concentration of this solution was determined by HPLC-MS to be 0.99 g/L.

After filling the solution into the vessel of the tensiometer and tempering it to the test temperature, the measuring procedure was started and repeated until the value of surface tension remained nearly constant.

The surface tension of the test substance was determined to be 70.7 mN/m at 20+/- 0.5 °C.

Description of key information
