non flammable

Additional information

Flammability:

The test item is a liquid. Testing was not necessary. This test is only applicable to solid materials.

Pyrophoric properties:

In accordance with section 1.5 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be performed as based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties are not to be expected and further the substance is known to be stable at room temperature due to experience in production or handling.

Contact with water:

In accordance with section 1.5 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be performed as based on chemical structure water reactivity is not to be expected. The substance will release CO2 in contact with water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not yet classified in the Annex I of Directive 67/548/EEC.

According to the information summarized below, no classification on flammability is needed:

- No pyrophoric property, based on experience from production and handling;

- It does not ignite spontaneously with water and does not liberate flammable gases in hazardous amounts in contact with water.

Based on the data summarized above, m-tolyl isocyanate is also not flammable according to GHS (Regulation EC 1272/2008).
