Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For ionic substances with Log Kow < 5, a BCF of 3 L/kg is predicted with BCFBAF v3.01

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
3 L/kg ww

Additional information

The QSAR model BCFBAF v3.01 in EPIWEB 4.1 was run in order obtain information on the bioconcentration potential of the substance. According to the Guidance on IR/CSA, Appendix R.7.10-1: “Fish BCFs of ionized substances can be estimated using appropriate QSARs (e.g. Meylan et al, 1999)”. BCFBAF is using methodology of Meylan et al. The validity and applicability criteria, as described in the REACH guidance, of the QSAR estimation have not been evaluated in detail. However, BCFBAF is a known and reliable calculation tool for this endpoint, supported by various publications in peer-reviewed literature and therefore these estimations can be used as supporting evidence. For ionic substances with Log Kow < 5, a BCF of 3 L/kg is predicted with BCFBAF v3.01.
