Any other information on results incl. tables
Analyses of the samples taken from the highest concentration showed that the initial concentration was 1.08 mg/l, which decreased to 0.82 mg/l after 72 h when the test was ended. The decrease was 24% and it was assumed that a similar average decrease would be valid for the lower concentrations. Based on these calculated concentrations, the estimated exposure range was 0.03, 0.06, 0.116, 0.24, 0.47, 0.94 mg/l.
Statistical analyses of the data showed that only the effect induced at the highest concentration was significant. For both biomass and growth rate the NOEC was determined at 0.47 mg/l (Bonferroni t-test).
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- no
- Remarks:
- The criterion with respect to the stability of the test concentrations (decrease not > 20%) was not fulfilled.
- Conclusions:
- Under the conditions of this study, it is not unequivocally clear that the observed effect on algal growth is directly related to the presence of the test substance. Therefore, the values for EC50 and NOEC reported here may not reflect the actual toxicity of the substance with respect to algal growth. The effects observed may have been caused by other conditions than the presence of the substance..
