- A stock solution was prepared daily to give the desired series of test concentrations. To accelerate the solution procedure a five fold amount of the water solubility (20 mg/L) of the test substance under exposure conditions was added to 10 litres of dilution water on Apr. 21, 2002 and Apr. 22, 2002 and to 5 litres of dilution water on Apr. 23, 2002 and Apr. 24, 2002, then treated with an ultra turrax for 60 seconds at 8000 rpm and afterwards stirred for 24 h on a magnetic stirrer. Finally undissolved particles of the test substance were removed by filtration using folded filters of pore size 7-12 μm.

Auxiliaries used to prepare the ·test media were an ultrasonic bath, a magnetic stirrer and folded filters.
During the test a temperature range of 20 - 24 °C is to be maintained in the test vessels, with a maximum temperature fluctuation of+/- 1 °C in each individual test. pH and oxygen values are measured at the beginning of the test and every 24 hours thereafter. Observations were made on the numbers of dead fish and the incidence of sub-lethal effects after 2, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours of exposure. After 96 hours of exposure an LC0 of 3.46 mg/L and an LC100 of 6.87 mg/Lwere determined. The geometric mean of the two values corresponding to the LC50 value is 4.88 mg/L.
