Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Give artificial respiration if not
breathing. Oxygen may be given by qualified personnel if
breathing is difficult. Get immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush with plenty of water and continue flushing
for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes. Get immediate medical
advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Immediately flush with plenty
of water and continue flushing for a minimum of 20 to 30
minutes. Get immediate medical advice.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: The substance reacts in water, often with a delay due to
initial immiscibility. There is no known reaction with
non-aqueous standard extinguishing agents.
Agents such as dry chemical and carbon dioxide are
acceptable. Water should not be used.
Product arising from burning: Normal combustion will lead to the formation of carbon
dioxide, silicon oxide and oxides of nitrogen. Incomplete
combustion (with lack of oxygen) may lead to the formation
of complex carbon and nitrogen products, including amines.
Nitrous acids may be formed in the presence of water.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Suitable for protection against corrosive liquid, to include
face mask, neoprene gloves, breathing aparatus and overalls.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Isolate hazard area. Eliminate moisture and sources of
ignition. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from
entering. In emergency situation or when the airborne
concentration is unknown, use positive pressure SCBA and
appropriate PPE. Absorb spill with vermiculite or other
inert absorbent. Place in appropriate chemical waste
container.
Handling and storage
Handling: Handle and store in a dry, inert environment (ie. nitrogen).
Store in a standard flammable liquids cabinet or room. Keep
away from moisture in a cool, well venilated area. When
handling this material use appropriate PPE. Avoid breathing
vapours and skin contact.
Respiratory protection: Wear a full face air purifying
respirator with ammonia gas/HEPA cartridges when exposure is
likely. When there is an emergency situation or the
airborne concentration is unknown, wear a positive pressure
air-supplied respirator (SCBA).
Skin protection: When chemical contact is possible, wear
butyl or other chemical resistant gloves, splash apron, work
uniform and shoes or coverlets.
Eye protection: Wear approved chemical safety goggles or
safety glasses with side shields worn with a face shield to
prevent liquid splash contact.
Engineering controls: Use process enclosures, local exhaust
ventilation with a minimum 100 feet/minute linear face
velocity or other engineering controls. Also, an eyewash and
safety shower should be readily accessible.
Storage: Store in dry conditions under away from extremes of
temperature. Avoid contact with moisture, alcohols, acids,
and oxidising agents.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Typically packed 20 litre laquered steel drums.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: May react with oxidising agents, releasing amine and silicon
derivatives. Reactions may be violent under certain
conditions.
Chemical reaction with water: Will decompose rapidly in the presence of water.
Will react exothermically in water, possibly with a delay
due to immiscibility. Reaction may become violent under
certain conditions.
Dust explosion: Not applicable.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is consumed during use. Residual unused
material in containers will be returned to commmercial use
by the manufacturer.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not known. Mixing with water will denature the substance.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Although the substance biodegrades and hydrolyses,
controlled discharge is not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the recommended method of disposal.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance will be degraded but this is not a recommended
method of disposal of large quantites of the substance.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Landfill of low level waste is possible, as permitted by
local regulations.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable to the general public.
