Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: none
Emergency measure - Eyes: In case of eye contact, immediately irrigate with plenty of
water for 15 minutes.
Emergency measure - Skin: In case of skin contact, wash affected areas of skin with
soap and water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: none
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Use water spray, alcohol foam, carbon dioxide or dry
chemical to extinguish fires. Water stream may be
ineffective. Use water to keep containers cool.
Product arising from burning: Thermal decomposition or combustion may produce carbon
monoxide, carbon dioxide, and/or oxides of nitrogen.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Wear self-contained, positive pressure breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear some protective clothing/equipment as noted in 2.3.1.
sweep up spills and place in a waste disposal container.
Flush area with water. Remove sources of ignition.
Handling and storage
Handling: Practice good hygiene. Before eating, drinking or smoking,
wash face and hands thorogougly with water and soap. Avoid
exposure to skin by wearing impervious gloves and apron. For
operations where eye of face contact can occur
, wear face shield. Where exposures exceed the permissible
exposure limit, use an approved respirator for the material
and level of exposure.
See annex 5 Cyanamid safety data sheet.
Storage: Areas containing this material should have fire-safe
practices and electrical equipment in accordance with
applicable governmental regulations for products with the
flashpoint of 27 °C closed cup.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Due to its high cost, loss of UV-1164 will be minmized
during incorporation into the polymer during formulation.
Once the material has been incorporated into the finished
polymer, recovery and recycle is not currently practiced.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The toxicological properties of UV-1164 indicate a low
toxicity which minimizes the need for neutralization.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: UV-1164 is effectively destroyed by incineration as are the
polymers which contain it
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: not given
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: not given
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: UV-1164 will be used commercially at low levels in polymers,
particularly coatings and high performance materials.
Recovery and recycle of this polymer is not currently
practised
