Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis of CA 2343 at approximately 500 mg/L (exact concentrations are known) was studied in a preliminary test in the dark at 50ºC in sterile aqueous buffered solutions at pH 3.8 (citrate buffer), pH 7 (phosphate buffer) and pH 9 (borax buffer) for 5 days.
Samples were analysed at 0h, 2 -4h, 2d, and 5d after taking aliquots from the hydrolysis solution by HPLC using external standard calibration.
After five days at 50 °C less than 10 % of the test substance had hydrolysed at pH 3.8. Therefore, in accordance with the test methods used, thehalf-life (lives)/DT50 (50% decline times)of the test substance may be estimated from the preliminary test to be > 1 year at 25 °C and 20 °C for pH 3.8.
Further testing was conducted for pH 7.0 at temperatures of 50, 70 and 80 °C and for pH 9.0 at 40 and 50 °C in order to determine the half-life times by extrapolation of the Arrhenius fit:
                                                          Half-life times (t1/2)
Buffer solution                       20 °C             25 °C
pH 7.0                                 3800 days       1500 days
pH 9.0                                 36 days           17 days
