Study observed
Marine Diesel Fuel:
Survival/Mortality:
Up to 8000 mg/kg bw/day: No mortality was observed in both males/females;
At ≥20000 mg/kg bw/day: 100% mortality in both males and females; no animals survived to the end of the study.
Skin effects:
Skin lesions were similar in all treated animals and were characterized by moderate acanthosis, parakeratosis, and hyperkeratosis and were accompanied by moderate mixed cellular inflammatory infiltrate in the upper dermis.
JP-5 navy fuel:
Survival/Mortality:
Up to 20000 mg/kg bw/day: No mortality was observed in both males/females;
At ≥30000 mg/kg bw/day: 100% mortality in females; and at 40000 mg/kg bw/day 100% mortality in males were observed; no animals survived to the end of the study in these dose groups.
Skin effects:
Treatment-related effects at the application site included scaly skin and hiair loss.
Skin lesions were characterized by acanthosis, hyperkeratosis, and acute or subacute inflammation.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Skin lesions were reported as treatment-related effects on exposure to diesel fuel
