Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
EUF – a clear, colourless liquid, which is readily soluble in water - is a complex reaction mixture consisting of several constituents. In aqueous solution a dynamic equilibrium exists, whose composition depends on the concentration, pH value and temperature. A precise experimental determination of the physical and chemical properties of the mixture or its constituents is thus difficult.
The pourpoint of EUF was determined to be -37°C and the boiling point to be in the range of 110.9°C to 117.0°C. The density is 1256 kg/m³ at 20°C.
The vapour pressure is measured to be 7.3 hPa at 25°C. However, besides formaldehyde or ethylene glycol, probably water had been determined in the gas phase. Therefore, a value of <0.13 hPa seems to be more appropriate considering information available for the constituents and the hydrolysis products.
Due to the fact that the substance is not stable in aqueous solution, an experimental determination of the partition coefficient is technically not feasible. Therefore the partition was estimated using calculated values of the constituents as well as peer-reviewed values of the hydrolysis products. This value indicates a very low partition to organic phases (logPow < 1).
The surface tension of EUF was measured to be 66.5 mN/m at 20°C. Therefore it is shown that EUF has no surface-active properties.
EUF is soluble in every ratio in acetone and glycol and limited soluble in 2-ethylhexanol, phenoxyethanol and n-heptan.
The flash point of EUF was determined to be 93°C and the self-ignition temperature to be 410°C at normal pressure. As revealed by a test, EUF is not explosive. From the structural formulas and the composition of the substance it can be safely concluded that the substance does not evolve any oxidizing properties. Both concentrated and diluted EUF showed a good material compatibility to the tested materials (metals, plastics, elastomers).
