Additional information

A study was performed according to OECD 201 and GLP using Scenedesmus subspicatus (CIBA-GEIGY Ltd. 1993c). The test concentrations were 0.41, 1.23, 3.7, 11, 33 and 100 mg/L. Due to the low solubility an emulsifier was used. The 72-h EC50 (biomass) of the test substance was determined to be 2.42 mg/L (nominal). Although the EC50 is above the determined water solubility of the test item, the value is used as worst case for classification and risk assessment.

A second range finding study was conducted according to OECD 201 using Scenedesmus subspicatus (RCC Umweltchemie GmbH & Co. KG 1995). However, the study is not reliable since a very large amount of emulsifier was used (100 mg/L in all test concentrations) and the pH value increased more than 1.5 units from the beginning to the end of the test.
