First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed personnel to an uncontaminated area quickly
using self-contained breathing apparatus. If breathing is
difficult, give oxygen. Medical assistance should be sought
immediately. Keep victim warm and quiet.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Eye contact may cause severe burns. Persons with potential
exposure should not wear contact lenses. Flush contaminated
eyes with large quantities of water for at least 15 minutes.
Hold eyelids open to ensure complete flushing.
Emergency measure - Skin: Contact may cause severe burns. Immediately flush affected
areas with large quantities of water. Remove affected
clothing as rapidly as possible only if not stuck to skin.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Contact may cause severe burns. Seek immediate medical
assistance.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Always use dry powder, soda ash or lime. Never use water,
foam or halogenated compounds to fight fires involving
organometallic materials.
Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving by-products of the adduct (eg. tetraglyme,
indium oxide and methane).

Protective equipment: Fire resistant clothing, self-contained breathing apparatus,
face shield and safety goggles, safety shoes and fire
resistant gloves must be worn.
Unreacted material may re-ignite when contact with air or
water is renewed.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to
the relevant national or international standards as
mentioned in section 2.3.10. Purge equipment with inert gas
before attempting repairs.
Handling and storage
Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used in
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.
Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the
substance.
When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.
This includes self-contained breathing apparatus, fire
resistant gloves, face shield and safety goggles, safety
shoes and fire resistant garments.
The standards mentioned above should be regarded as a
minimum.
Storage: Protect containers from physical damage. Do not allow
temperatures to exceed 51°C. Store away from flammable
material.
Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from
spillages or accidental discharge is not economically or
technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of by incineration or landfill.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the
hazardous health properties.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with
inert material (eg sand or soil) may be disposed of by
landfill at an authorised tip in accordance with local
regulations.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because by-products of the adduct (eg.
tetraglyme, indium oxide and methane) could be formed.

the sewage system or the aqueous environment.
