Not skin irritant

Not eye irritant

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data on the skin and eye irritation potential of target substance were found in literature, therefore the skin and eye irritation was assessed by OECD QSAR Toolbox. No inclusion rules are met for the eye irritation/corrosion. For skin irritation an alert was found due to the presence of ketones. The target substance cannot be however identified by these chemical categories as the ketone in the anthraquinone is part of a system of fused rings with a high resonance and a different reactivity respect to the ketones. For skin irritation an alert was also found due to the presence of aromatic amines and sulfonic acids. The just mentioned alert is also found for the similar substances.

However, results from studies carried out on two similar substances were negative as the substances were found to be not eye nor skin irritant.

Further information are available in the attachment in IUCLID section 13.2.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on analysis of structural alerts by OECD QSAR Toolbox and available experimental data on structural analogues, the substance is not classified for skin and eye irritation according to the CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
