First-aid measures

DESCRIPTION OF FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation -

If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration and/or oxygen. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

Skin contact -

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with soap and water. Seek medical attetnion if symptoms persist.

Eye contact -

Rinse eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Seek medical attention.

Ingestion -

If swallowed, wash out mouth with water and give a few glasses of water to drink. Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.

MOST IMPORTANT SYMPOTMS AND EFFECTS, BOTH ACUTE AND DELAYED

Low exposure -

Irritating on skin, in eyes and to upper respiratory tract.

High exposure -

Hoarseness and difficulties to breath. Repeated and prolonged exposure may cause irritation and dryness of skin.

Other hazardous properties cannot be excluded. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Suitable extinguishing media -

Water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable extinguishing media -

No limitations given for this substance.

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE

Combustible, but not flammable. In case of fire toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon oxides (COx), and sulfur oxides (SOx) may be formed.

ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS

Wear self-contained brething apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

Prevent fire extinguishing water from contaminating the surface water or ground water.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Use recommended personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection equipment, during removal of spillages. Avoid raising dust.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS

Do not let the substance enter into drains. Prevent spill from contaminating surface water or ground water.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP

Pick up. Keep in closed suitable container and hold for waste disposal. Ventilate area and wash spill site with water after material pickup is complete.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING

Avoid dust generation and inhalation of dust. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Provide for adequate ventilation. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATIBILITES

Keep container/package tightly closed. Store at regular indoor conditions, +15 to 25C.

Exposure controls / personal protection

CONTROL PARAMETERS

No data available.

EXPOSURE CONTROL

Appropriate engineering controls -

Use appropriate controls (e.g. containment, local exhaust ventilation) as sepcified in a workplace risk assessment. Technical measures and appropriate operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Personal protective equipment -

Eye face protection - Use safety goggles. A device for eyewash should be available.

Skin protection - Handle with gloves. The selected gloves must comply with the specifications in EC Directive 89/686/EEC and the related standard EN374 or applicable national legislation.

Protective clothing - Impervious clothing. The type should be selected according to concnetrations and quantities of the hazardous substance handled at the specific workplace.

Respiratory protection - Required when dusts are generated. Where risk assessment shows that an air-purifying respirator is appropriate, use filter of type P2 (EN 143) or N100 (NIOSH) or types recommended in applicable national legislation.

Environmental exposure controls - o not empty into drains or water courses.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity -

No known reactivity hazards under normal conditions.

Chemical stability -

The substance is chemically stable under standard ambient conditions (+15 to 25C).

Conditions to avoid -

Avoid exposure to sunlight.

Incompatible materials -

Strong oxidants. Strong bases.

Hazardous decomposition products -

Nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon oxides (COx) and sulfur oxides (SOx).

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods -

Dispose waste at authorized plant, in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and/or aplicable local or national legislation.
